- Enter the Room width and Room length in feet, or keep the 14 ft by 16 ft defaults.
- Use the Furniture tab to add and arrange furniture inside the fixed walls.
- Select furniture or room elements to inspect their details.
- Open Inspect to review red overlaps and listed tight clearances.
- Use the canvas controls and shortcuts to select, rotate, measure, zoom, or pan the plan.
What to enter
- Room width
- Enter the room width in feet. The allowed range is 4 to 80 ft; the default is 14 ft.
- Room length
- Enter the room length in feet. The allowed range is 4 to 80 ft; the default is 16 ft.
Example: plan the default 14 ft by 16 ft room
Leave Room width at 14 ft and Room length at 16 ft. The displayed floor area is 14 × 16 = 224 sq ft. Add furniture from the Furniture tab, arrange it within the walls, then open Inspect to find overlaps or tight clearances.
How the room layout is calculated
The room starts as a single rectangle. Floor area is calculated as Room width × Room length in square feet, so the default is 14 × 16 = 224 sq ft. The room has a door and a window in the starting plan. Its walls stay fixed when you arrange furniture. Furniture overlaps are shown in red, and tight clearances are listed under Inspect.
Reading the results
The canvas shows the room, its fixed walls, openings, and placed furniture. The size line shows the room area and updates when you apply new dimensions. Use Inspect for overlap and clearance feedback. Use Furniture to add items and My plans to work with your saved plan options.
Limitations and common mistakes
- This tool plans one rectangular room at a time; it does not create editable room walls or irregular room shapes.
- The walls are locked, so changing the room size rebuilds the room boundary rather than letting you draw new walls.
- Clearance feedback is a planning check under Inspect, not a substitute for verifying required clearances for your specific project.
- Room dimensions must be between 4 ft and 80 ft for both width and length.
