How to use the apartment layout planner

Plan an apartment layout on a 2D canvas before arranging your space. Start with a studio, one-bedroom, or two-bedroom template, then edit walls, openings, furniture, and measurements.

  1. Choose Studio, 1-bed, or 2-bed under Apartment type.
  2. Use the toolbar to select, draw walls, add doors or windows, measure, pan, or zoom.
  3. Open Furniture to place items in the plan and arrange them inside the rooms.
  4. Use Inspect to review room details and clearances.
  5. Open My plans to manage saved plans, or Trace image to work from a reference image.
  6. Use undo and redo while testing different layouts.

What to enter

Apartment type
Choose Studio · 20 x 25 ft, 1-bed · 26 x 28 ft, or 2-bed · 32 x 30 ft. The planner starts with the one-bedroom layout.

Example: arrange a one-bedroom apartment

The planner opens with the 1-bed · 26 x 28 ft template. Its starting plan has Living / Kitchen, Bedroom, and Bathroom rooms, with a displayed area of 728 sq ft. Open Furniture, place seating and a bed, then use Select to move them. Choose Measure to check distances, and use Inspect to review the layout. Save the version you want in My plans.

How the planner works

Each apartment type loads a ready-made 2D floor plan with walls, openings, detected rooms, and starter names. The available templates are a 20 × 25 ft studio with 500 sq ft, a 26 × 28 ft one-bedroom plan with 728 sq ft, and a 32 × 30 ft two-bedroom plan with 960 sq ft. Room areas are measured to wall centre-lines. The summary shows total measured area, room count, and bedroom or bathroom counts inferred from room names. Edit the plan on the canvas by selecting, drawing walls, adding doors or windows, placing furniture, and measuring.

Reading the results

The canvas shows the current floor plan. The summary displays the measured square-foot area, number of rooms, and detected bedroom and bathroom counts. Use Inspect for plan details, Furniture for catalog items, My plans for saved plans, and Trace image for the tracing workspace.

Limitations and common mistakes

  • The apartment picker includes studio, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom layouts only. The separate three-bedroom template is a house plan and is not offered here.
  • Displayed room areas use wall centre-lines, so they can differ from usable floor area measured inside finished wall surfaces.
  • The starter layouts are planning templates. Check dimensions, clearances, building requirements, and landlord or property rules before construction or installation.
  • Furniture placement and wall changes are editable, so the final arrangement depends on the changes you make.
