How to use the interior 3D viewer

Preview furniture, room models, and other compatible 3D files without uploading them. Load a GLB or self-contained glTF file, or choose a generated sample furniture model, then inspect it in 3D and use AR when your device supports it.

  1. Choose My file or Sample furniture under Model source.
  2. For My file, choose a .glb or self-contained .gltf within the displayed file-size limit.
  3. For Sample furniture, select a Furniture piece and click View.
  4. Use the viewer's camera controls to inspect the model, then choose View in your room when the AR button is available.
  5. Review the bounding-box dimensions shown after the model loads.

What to enter

Model source
Choose My file to open a local model, or Sample furniture to generate a catalog-sized furniture piece in your browser.
GLB or glTF file
Choose a .glb or self-contained .gltf file within the maximum size shown in the picker. The file is opened locally in your browser and never uploaded.
Furniture piece
When Sample furniture is selected, choose a catalog piece and click View. These are simple generated models at their catalog sizes.

Preview a room model and check its size

Choose My file under Model source, then select a compatible room-model .glb file. After it loads, rotate and inspect the model with the camera controls. The viewer shows its bounding box as Width, Depth, and Height in feet and inches, with centimetres below. If View in your room appears, tap it to place the model at true scale in a supported AR experience.

How the 3D viewer works

A selected GLB or self-contained glTF file is checked for its file type, size, and expected model format before it is previewed locally. The viewer loads the model with camera controls and reads its bounding box after loading. Width uses the model's x dimension, Height uses y, and Depth uses z. The dimensions are displayed in feet and inches and in centimetres. Generated furniture is built in the browser from the selected catalog piece's width, depth, and height, then prepared as a GLB for viewing.

Reading the results

The main panel displays the model when it loads. Use the camera controls to inspect it from different angles. The Bounding box section reports Width, Depth, and Height based on the loaded model. The View in your room button appears only when the browser and device report AR support. AR placement uses the floor and aims to show the model at true scale.

Limitations and common mistakes

  • Only .glb files and self-contained .gltf files are accepted. The file must also be within the maximum size shown in the file picker.
  • A corrupt file or a model using unsupported extensions may fail to display.
  • Dimension accuracy depends on how the model was authored and exported. Check that the model was exported in metres.
  • The viewer has no user control for lighting or exposure. Generated samples use catalog sizes and are not custom furniture designs.

Frequently asked questions

What file types can I open in the interior 3D viewer?

You can open GLB files or self-contained glTF files. The viewer checks the extension, file size, and model format before loading the file.

Are my 3D files uploaded?

No. A selected file is opened locally in your browser and is not uploaded.

Why are my model dimensions incorrect?

The dimensions come from the model's bounding box. Check that the model was authored and exported in metres, as incorrect model units can produce an unexpected readout.

Can I view a 3D model in my room?

On a phone with AR support, the viewer may show View in your room. The button appears only when the browser and device can activate AR.

Can I change the size of a generated furniture model?

No. Generated sample furniture is created at its catalog size. The tool does not provide custom width, depth, or height controls.
