How to use the design variation generator
Create several visual takes on one room instead of generating one design at a time. Upload a room photo, choose a room and style, then compare 2–4 AI-generated variations with the same room layout.
- Upload a clear photo of the room.
- Choose the Room and Style that best match the image.
- Set the number of variations from 2 to 4.
- Add an optional design direction, such as materials, colors or furniture preferences.
- Select Generate and compare the resulting images.
What to enter
- Room
- Choose Bedroom, Living room, Kitchen, Bathroom, Dining room or Home office. This helps describe the space in the generation request.
- Style
- Choose from Modern, Scandinavian, Japandi, Industrial, Boho, Farmhouse, Mid-century, Coastal, Minimalist or Luxury.
- Number of variations
- Choose 2, 3 or 4 variations. The default is 3.
- Prompt
- Optional. Add up to 400 characters describing the look you want, such as a color palette, material or furniture preference.
- Room photo
- Upload the room image that will be restyled. The tool uses this image as the starting point for every variation.
Example: compare three living room directions
Upload a living room photo. Choose Living room and Boho, keep Number of variations at 3, and add an optional direction such as “Use warm terracotta accents, layered rugs and more plants.” Generate the set to receive three takes on the same room layout, each using a different variation seed.
How the variations are created
The tool uses the uploaded photo as the starting image and builds a prompt from your selected room, style and optional direction. It asks the image model to keep the same room layout, applies depth-based structure guidance, and uses a strength of 0.65 for the restyle. Each requested output receives a different generated seed. You can request 2–4 outputs, with 3 as the default.
Reading the results
Review the generated images side by side as different directions for the same space. Use them to compare mood, finishes, furniture ideas and color combinations. Treat every result as a conceptual visualization, not an architectural drawing: AI images can change proportions, invent details and misplace openings.
Limitations and common mistakes
- Results depend on the uploaded photo and the image-generation service. The tool does not produce measured plans, construction drawings or permit documents.
- The images aim to keep the room layout, but walls, windows, doors, proportions and details may still change.
- AI-generated furniture, materials and lighting may not be physically accurate or available as shown.
- The optional prompt is limited to 400 characters. Avoid using the results as exact instructions for purchasing, remodeling or construction.
Frequently asked questions
How many design variations can I generate?
You can request 2, 3 or 4 variations. The default setting is 3.
Will the variations keep my room layout?
The task asks the image model to use the same room layout. However, AI images can still alter proportions, openings and other details.
Can I choose a different interior design style?
Yes. Choose from 10 styles: Modern, Scandinavian, Japandi, Industrial, Boho, Farmhouse, Mid-century, Coastal, Minimalist and Luxury.
Do I need to add a prompt?
No. The room and style selections are enough to create a request. An optional prompt can add direction about colors, materials, furniture or atmosphere.
Are the images suitable for construction or permits?
No. They are conceptual visualizations for mood and direction only, not measurements, structural guidance or permit documents.
