How to use the aI furniture replacement
Replace one piece of furniture in a room photo without changing the whole room. Upload a photo, paint over the furniture, describe the replacement, and choose a style.

What to enter
- Photo upload
- Upload the room image you want to edit. A photo is required before you can generate a result.
- What should the AI do?
- Choose Replace furniture to swap a selected piece, or Remove furniture to erase the selected area.
- Room
- Choose Bedroom, Living room, Kitchen, Bathroom, Dining room, or Home office. The default is Living room.
- Style
- Choose one of the available styles, including Modern, Scandinavian, Japandi, Industrial, Boho, Farmhouse, Mid-century, Coastal, Minimalist, and Luxury. The default is Modern.
- Replacement furniture
- Describe the new piece in 2–120 characters, such as “a green velvet sofa.” This field is used when Replace furniture is selected.
- Additional instructions
- Optionally add instructions of up to 400 characters. Use this to clarify color, material, shape, or other details.
- Painted area
- Brush over the furniture to replace. A painted mask is required for replacement and removal. Smart selection may be available when the image segmentation service is enabled.
Replace a living room sofa
Upload a living room photo. Leave Room set to Living room and Style set to Modern. Choose Replace furniture, brush over the existing sofa, and enter “a low-profile olive green velvet sofa.” Generate the image to see the selected area filled with the described piece, with consistent lighting, shadows, and scale.
How the replacement works
The tool uses the painted area as a mask and generates the replacement inside that area. It combines your furniture description with the selected room and style. The request also asks for natural placement, consistent lighting and shadows, correct scale, and no floating or incorrectly scaled object. Replacement uses a single in-painted image generation with a strength of 1, 30 generation steps, and guidance of 7.
Reading the results
The result is an AI-generated conceptual visualization of your room with the selected furniture area changed. Compare the new piece with the original photo, focusing on its general style, color, placement, and scale. Treat it as mood and direction, not as a precise representation of dimensions or construction conditions.
Limitations and common mistakes
- The AI may change proportions, invent details, or misplace openings and other room features.
- The replacement only follows the painted mask. Include the complete furniture piece and avoid painting unrelated walls, floors, or objects.
- The result is not a measurement drawing. Do not use it for structure, permits, ordering exact furniture dimensions, or construction decisions.
- Image generation must be available for this task. A daily image limit or payment requirement may apply depending on the current site status.
